Bank holiday weekend

So the long weekend is here.
No school, no work and wait, oh, no sunshine either.
Well for the time being.
So the first hour of the weekend was sort making plans for what we could do based on the weather forecast.
We decided upon the Sea Life Centre on Sunday and grandmas on Monday - when it is supposedly going to be sunny.
And for Saturday we settled upon a quietish day with a trip to Blooms Garden Centre, Rachel and daddy went to Costco and Rachel and mummy went to Central Six Retail Park.
We hadn't been to Blooms before so it was a voyage of discovery and one of those pleasant surprises you happen upon sometimes.
There is a massive garden centre as well as a decent sized indoor shop with a few small retail outlets including a butchers and the works. I bought the kids raincoats for next year so they can have them as part of their Xmas presents along with some books.
The best feature for us was the small soft play area which for a charge of £1.50 per child for an hour was quite reasonable. We were very civilised and sat and had tea and cake while the kids ran in and out of the play area having a whale of a time.
After a while we left to find it absolutely hammering down with rain. J went to get the car in the downpour and a couple of minutes later as he drove towards us, it stopped raining!!
When we got home we attempted to get the kids to eat before putting Jack up to bed. Rachel and J went off to Costco and I had a nap. Then we swapped over and J had a rest in front of the football while I took Rachel to the shops supposedly to get her and Jack some shoes of the correct size, but ended up getting a dress for me and a hoody for Jack!
Sunday dawned with a touch of sunshine although it didn't last too long, but at least there was no rain.
Rach and I went horseriding. Rachel had snowy and I had my usual Piper. It was quite warm so I was getting very sweaty! Rach watched me for the second half of the lesson with a couple of her toys!
Then we dashed home for a bath and got ready to head out to the Sealife centre to meet Grandma and Grandad.
The kids had a great time looking at the fishes, sharks, otters and turtles.
But they enjoyed the soft play area the most! They were very well behaved too considering they had not had lunch or sleep. We eventually sent J and Grandad out to the nearby Spar for some sandwiches and crisps and had a mini picnic by the play area before heading for home.
Grandma took Rachel and I to Dunelm where as always I ended up buying numerous things that we don't desperately need but are on sale so really a bargain!!
Monday dawned and finally a beautiful day! I was feeling a tad guilty as really I should have been working... But then again, I don't think I have ever had a bank holiday off (that we have been open for) in the last 7 3/4 years so I thought maybe I deserved one and it just so happened that its a beautiful day and I am sitting in Grandma and grandad's garden enjoying the weather, sipping on a yummy (non-alcoholic) cocktail whilst watching the kids running around in shorts and vests.. Bliss.
I so should have lived in a hot country so I could live this way all the time!!
