Rachel wanted to cuddle Jack so we got her in to the chair and let her have a hold. Sooooo cute.
Eventually the doctor came. She said I could have the wee bag removed but had to stay in overnight. I was gutted, particularly as my tv had stopped working so there was nothing to keep me entertained plus I had no more clothes, nappies etc. James took rachel home and was going to come back later to see us, bringing more supplies.
We settled down for a rest and watched everyone else leave one by one. Eventually the midwife came and took out the catheter and told me they thought it was ridiculous for me to stay overnight and if I could do 2 good wees without pain or passing blood etc they would try and get doc to let me home... So I started downing the water, had a shower and soon enough had peed a good litre and a half. Then it was just a case of waiting for the doc again to discharge us.At least I now felt human again and didn't have stupid tube sticking in my bits!!
Then the doc said she couldn't come as she was tied up with emergencies downstairs so all looked hopeless but the midwives and sister decided they would discharge me anyway as long as I took it easy and let them know immediately if I had any probs. I texted James to tell him the good news and set about packing up our stuff.....
Just managed to get him to sleep for an hour or so in the Moses basket and then an hour on me. So I've just managed a couple of hours sleep at last. Hurray! Typically now Rach is up and getting ready for Mandy's he is fast asleep in his basket and despite her continually trying to disturb him, he is out for the count! Anyway, back to day 2!!......
The midwife came in to give me all the discharge paperwork and soon after James arrived armed with the car seat. We got loaded up with Jack in the enormous snowsuit we had for him and all the bags and headed out to the car. We hadn't told the grandparents or Rachel we were coming home so that would be a surprise for them!!!
After everyone had had cuddles grandma and grandad left us to it.
After Luke left, I left Jack with daddy and headed up for a couple of hours sleep before coming back down to relieve him of a hungry boy and starting the first nightshift at home!
