It's the school hols.aaaaaagggghhhhh! Now we have to keep 2 kids entertained! Luckily the first few days have been ok as James has been off and dad came to stay too. I have 10 days off but I think it's a good job as I am full of germs-sore throat and cough that doesn't want to go though I have spread it to the kids!!
On Saturday it was dads birthday so as it looked quite fine out we decided to go to the farm park. Last week when Rachel was finishing her riding lesson Jack had been wanting to go on the horsey and they do pony rides at the farm so I thought we could let him have a go. Plus we had free tickets for the kids. By the time we got there the weather has changed, the sun disappeared and there was a biting cold wind. We looked at the animals and miraculously Jack loved them- last year when we went all he did was cry when they made noises! We went on a particularly cold tractor ride then Rachel and Jack had their pony rides. Of course Rachel is a pro now but Jack also did ok although he was slouching backwards like a cowboy!!
After that the kids had a go in the playground. Then we went to feed the lambs. After that we really decided it was too cold and we were hungry so as the restaurant there was packed we headed off to the pub. We had a good lunch and even the kids ate pretty well for them! Rach had pizza, carrots and rice while jack had a more traditional combo of fish fingers chips and beans.
When we got home Jack and James went up for a snooze but it was short lived as Jack woke up coughing and crying. James brought him down and I rocked him back to sleep in my arms which hasn't happened for a long time. James took Rachel out so we could have some peace and quiet and jack and I snoozed for about an hour :-)
Sunday was just as cold so as J was helping out a friend at his pub Dad and I took the kids to the park briefly before we decided it was far too cold and so we went home and had lunch instead!
I don't really know that we did anything exciting for the next few days! I was feeling rough so I think we really took it easy and all the plans I had for the Thursday while the kids were at Mandy's on Thursday went out the window as I spent the day lolling on the sofa instead.
On the Friday the kids and I went to Twycross zoo. I hadn't been there before so it was great to find out how close and easy it was to get to. We met Becci and Millie there and had a lovely (if still a bit cold) time looking at all the animals. The kids loved the monkeys and there was a dinosaur exhibition there which Jack and Rachel loved although Millie was not so keen and wanted to go home when she saw them! We eventually saw the elephants after walking round in circles to find them back where we had started and had a ride on the little train before calling it a day. Besides we had to get home to wait for the boiler repair man to come! And Rachel had to get ready for her sleepover at Grandmas house.
