The ritz

One of the things we did during the 18 months I didn't post anything was to go for afternoon tea at the Ritz. It was a surprise for Grandma Maz's birthday. 5 years earlier she had taken us all to Disneyland Paris for her birthday and on that occasion J and I had surprised everyone by telling them I was pregnant. That was also the first time we has met Uncle Addy. This birthday she had 2 grandchildren there with her to celebrate and a steadily growing bump on a now-married-to-Addy, Auntie Sarah.
We stayed overnight just outside London and then we duly donned our best frocks - new suit for J - and headed into London. The plan was to install us safely inside the Ritz before Marion and David arrived - and this would have worked if we had not driven around in circles a couple of times looking for the car park. As it was, we drove round the corner to be greeted by them stepping out of the car and despite a swift ducking of heads we were clocked. However the surprise was kind of still intact as she was not expecting everyone to be there for tea at the ritz and tears were still aplenty.

Afternoon tea was followed by a drive across London, a walk in Richmond Park in best frocks and wellies, a mandatory viewing of deer, and finally party poppers and birthday cake provided by Auntie Sarah. And yes it was edible. Auntie Sarah's cooking skills have definitely developed since I've known her!
