Rachel's Birthday

So our first full day was Rachel's birthday.
5 already - where does the time go?!
Breakfast consisted of the usual all inclusive buffet selections.
We picked some cereal for the kids and then some pancakes, egg and beans. They ate the sum total of basically nothing but that is only to be expected.
By 10am it was already lovely and warm so we got ready and headed down to the kids pool. Rachel was straight in there playing and splashing and sliding on the slide, but Jack was not too impressed as the water was very cold!
The people next to us had some foam sprayers and they let Jack play with one which kept him entertained for quite a while - mainly spraying Mummy!
Again the lunch buffet was pretty standard consisting of salads, pasta, Greek specials and a good selection of desserts. We quickly discovered that the kids would eat desserts but were not too bothered about anything else!
After out lunch we headed back to the room to attempt to get everyone to have a rest as we were all still tired from the lack of sleep the night before. It took a while to settle everyone down but in the end we all had a couple of hours rest.
We then went on Rachel's request over to the small kids playground and then into the main pool and small kids pool. The water had somewhat warmed up during the day and the kids pool being smaller was actually quite a reasonable temperature. After a lot of cajoling and persuasion - and thanks to the man in the shark suit scaring him - we finally managed to get Jack into the water and having armed him with the only suitable water toy we had (a tiny, plastic watering can) he actually started to enjoy himself, watering Daddy.
Dinner was at 7 and daddy had organised a special table for us for the birthday girl. When she had had her main course she was demanding to go up for desserts and it took a lot of persuasion to get her to sit and wait for a minute as J had organised a little birthday cake for her which was a lovely surprise.
After dinner we went to the mini disco which neither Rachel nor Jack would join in with, but when they announced they were doing face-painting, Rachel begged to have this done. Of course the only issue with this is that they do it late in the evening - just before bedtime so I am sure we are not the only people who had a lot of tears when told half an hour later that they had to wash it off. She steadfastly stood in front of the mirror, wiping it off herself whilst the tears rolled down we cheeks.
