We are now entering day 3 of our holiday and so far we made it here - no ash clouds or viruses - and so far since being here no-one has got ill or been robbed... ( of course there is still plenty of time for these last two items to occur).
We set off on Tuesday, heading straight to the airport after picking Rachel off from school. Bearing in mind our previous experiences and the fact the we were about to have to entertain two young children on a plane for four hours, my stomach was doing somersaults. Check-in was smooth - Rachel told everyone that listened that it was her birthday tomorrow - then we went straight through passport control and security and after a quick shop in Boots had some dinner in Burger King! Not my preferred choice but there was not a McDonald's so it had to do!
We boarded the plane and took off on time at around 6.30. The wind was apparently in our favour, so the pilot said - speaking of whom when we were boarding the plane we could see the cockpit and Rachel and Jack could see through and waved to him and were duly rewarded with a return wave!! - meaning the flight time would be shaved by about 20 minutes! Whoop whoop!
Things started well and the first hour passed quite quickly. The next 2hrs40 mins were a little tougher as the kids refused to sleep and were tired and bored, but actually not too badly behaved and a pretty good start to the HOLIDAY !!
