Day 7 Saturday 29th - 1 week old!!

Yay managed to get Jack down in his Moses basket for 2 hours! Then he started to stir for a feed and Rachel turned up at about the same time. Let her stay for a bit - chattering away - until daddy woke up enough to take her back to bed. He thought she would take ages to settle so went prepared to sleep with her again. As it was, she settled quite quickly but so did he, so Jack and I were left to our own devices again.
Jack wouldn't settle again so after a marathon feeding session we eventually fell asleep together again before waking around half 7 at which time I had a stinking headache.James got me some tablets then took rach downstairs so Jack and I dozed off again for half hour or so after another feed. When we got up I went down and took one of the good painkillers then we got dressed and waited for mum, dad and uncle Andrew to arrive. Had to send dad off to the shop when they arrived as we had run dry of milk and teabags. We thought he had gone to India to get the tea as he was gone for ages, but it turned out he had walked over to sainsburys where he had bought some little trousers for Jack!
After lunch and a few more cuddles mum and dad took Ben out for a walk, while daddy went to mother care to see if he could get a proper swaddle blanket as we had decided to give that a go and see if it helped Jack to settle. When everyone was back, mid afternoon, they set off to Andrews house leaving us to it.
We were all exhausted so it didn't take us long before we all fell asleep for a family afternoon nap! I woke up about an hour later and then set about waking everyone else up, particularly as we didn't want rach to sleep much longer or we would never get her to bed.

Rach had some pasta and meatballs for tea although it took a while to get it in to her as she was tired but restless. We delayed bath time a bit and then rach and I had a lovely bath together, her helping to wash my hair while I did hers which involved pouring a lot of water over each others heads. All in all good fun and something we hadn't been able to do for ages.
We got in to pyjamas and then daddy took Rachel up while I fed Jack.
Finally james returned and got us some dinner, then Jack and I snuggled up on the sofa and fell asleep. We were woken a bit later by Ben crying as he wanted to go out and daddy had gone missing. It turned out Rachel had got up wanting a wee so he had had to go and sort her out although she wanted mummy to do it. He came back a few minutes later but unfortunately she got up again and that was almost the last we saw of him except when he popped down to get strawberry juice for her as she was complaining her ear hurt again. He is still with her now and she is wide awake and I can hear her chattering ten to the dozen at him. He has taken the single duvet with him and is going to stay on the sofa bed for now as we feel it is vetoer to try and keep her in her own room rather than revert to letting her in with us. Least of all because she would be getting repeatedly disturbed by Jack and all night plus we are keeping the lava lamp on at night so I don't have to keep turning the other lights on and off.
So it's 1 am now, seems to be quietening down next-door, Jack and I are having a feed then we'll try and go to bed.
