Day 10 and 11

Well I can categorically say the answer to the 2 questions I set last post were resounding no's!!!!
Rachel came in about quarter to one and daddy ended up going in with her again, and Jack was up and feeding from half twelve until about 7am...hoping it was a growth spurt and that it doesn't happen too regularly!!
Ben also got up about five, so Jack and I had to take him down and let him out. When we finally got back upstairs James came back in to our room and about an hour or so later Rachel came in and got in to bed with us, but she did doze off for a little bit longer. When she got up James took her downstairs so I could go back to sleep for a bit. I woke up just before ten, feeling surprisingly ok. James and Rachel had gone to her favourite shop - Costco!! - so I had a shower and got dressed. Unfortunately the good feeling didn't last, my stitches were hurting, I think they are coming loose and that's why they were hurting, and then the postnatal bleeding which seemed to have stopped came back with a vengeance so i felt generally rubbish for the rest of the day.
We took the children over to see great granny in the afternoon and stayed there for a couple of hours which was really nice, as we hadn't managed tonged over there for ages what with me being heavily pregnant and James working so hard in the run up to Xmas and then in the aftermath when his "sous chef" disappeared, and the terrible weather we had had as well.
Jack spent a lot of time awake again and then spent the evening eating continuously. We went up to bed about 10ish and he continued to feed until about midnight. Then we dozed off.
Once again Rachel did not stay in her bed and daddy had to take her back to bed. I hope she soon grows out of this as poor daddy will be exhausted when he goes back to work if this carries on. He is already starting to get a cold and I feel bad that I can't help him with her in the night but until he starts lactating my boobs need to stay with Jack so we are stuck with the situation as it is!
Had a much better nights sleep on Tuesday night but still couldn't get jack to settle in his Moses basket for long so he slept on or next to me during the night in between feeds.
I am always worried about this so try and wedge myself in to a good position from which I can't move.
At least it was Wednesday so Rachel was off to Mandy's and we had a peaceful day just the three of us, plus Ben of course. The health visitor came round about 10am, nice and early so we didn't have to spend the whole day waiting around for her. She weighed Jack and I was delighted that he has out on loads of weight, not only regaining his birth weight but adding an extra 7.5oz, so he is now 7lb7oz. At least that means the non stop feasting the other night was definitely worth it!!

She went through a load of paperwork and leaflets with us and also gave us some tips on how to get him to settle in the Moses basket which we will try tonight.we will give anything a try!!
I now have one last appointment with the midwife, next Monday and then we just have to take Jack to the clinic to be weighed and measured, until we have our 6-8week check up.
After the HV had left I fed Jack and then we went over to James work to have lunch and to show Jack off, and for James to check on how things had been without him. Luckily he had managed to get a replacement for the disappearing chef who had started while he was off, so he is yet to work with him yet and hasn't been ther since he had his working trial on the Friday my waters broke.
Had a lovely lunch, I had homemade chicken Kiev and James had a homemade burger. Then Jack was demanding another feed and then it was time to head home in time to get Rachel from mandy's. Rachel had been a good girl and mandy said she hadn't cried which makes a change at the moment. Hopefully now Jack is here she will settle down again with Mandy and playgroup and not be as clingy as she was being for the last few weeks with me.
Rachel was very excited to see Jack and spent the first half hour screaming with delight at him! Then she had her tea and then it went downhill. She had a big paddy at bath time, wanting to come in the shower, not wanting to go in to her bath, wanting to go and see daddy. So I just got on with having my shower and eventually when I had got out and dried I got her to calm down and get in the bath. After a few more tantrums about random things she was finally ready for bed and she fell asleep almost instantly.
And so to now - Jack has been feeding a lot again this evening and we are trying to keep him awake a bit so hopefully we will have another decent night, with him at least!!
Dreading tomorrow as James is going in to work in the afternoon for a bit, and then after that, from Friday he is back properly..............
