Day 12 and 13

Well the HV's tip on how to settle Jack worked like a charm. He spent the first part of the night and the last part of the night in his Moses basket. Rachel did not do too well and daddy was too tired to take her back to bed so she ended up sleeping with us. Not great but hopefully it won't be a regular occurrence.
Rachel was at mandy's again so daddy dropped her off and when he got back he went to bed for a bit while Jack and I got out of his way and went downstairs. James had to go and register Jack at half eleven which he did really quickly and then he came back for a bit before having to head out to work.
Jack and I had a chilled out afternoon and then went to pick auntie Sarah up from the train station at 3pm. We came back to the house and auntie Sarah had her first cuddles with Jack. As if on cue the minute she held him he pooed. Very amusing!!!

At 4 I took Jack with me to pick up Rachel so Mandy could meet Jack and have cuddles. She said it made her all broody and that she couldn't look after a baby as she would spend the whole time cuddling him and would ignore the other children!!
When we got back Rachel and auntie Sarah played for a while before Chris popped in to say hello and meet the little man.
Rachel was great with him and was soon running between him and Sarah playing tickle monster..
She ate her dinner really well and then as Chris left grandma arrived to pick up auntie Sarah and not long after daddy got back so we didn't have to manage on our own!

At bath time I sent daddy out to get some dinner for us while I tried doing bath time on my own with Jack and Rachel. It went ok when I finally got Rachel in to the bath! Then by the time daddy got back we were all snuggled up on the sofa, Jack ha ing some milk and Rachel all ready for bed. After wwe had eaten, daddy took rachle up to bed for the last time until next week. Aaaaaaarrrrgggghhh!!!
She settled quickly so we settled down and caught up on the reruns of ER that have started on the new sky channel.
At just after 10 I took Jack up and after another feed, got him into his moses basket and safely off to sleep. I was not far behind him and didn't even wake up when daddy came to bed.
Woke up again just before 2 and Jack was still soundly asleep in his basket!! Actually had to wake him up to feed him!!
Unfortunately from that point on sleep was not coming back, at least for me. Jack went back in his Moses basket but was very wriggly. I think he needed a poo. Anyway after another feed at about 5, he settled back down and slept the rest of the night.
And to make it even better, Rachel slept through as well and didn't appear until 7am.
How unfair and blooming typical that I didn't benefit from the rare good night's sleep!!
Thank goodness James wasn't in work until lunchtime as it meant I got to stay in bed for a bit and Finally fell asleep although not for long before Rachel woke me up again!!
Daddy headed off to work at 11. And we managed to get through the next 2 hours on our own before dropping off rach at playgroup.
We had Jack with us and after everyone had had a coo over him - all cosy in his sling - she went in quite happily to look for Jess.
Jack and I had a couple of hours resting and watching tv before all too soon it was time to set off to pick her up again. She had had a good time and came away with some chocolate money for Chinese new year and told me she hadn't cried!!
When we got back, auntie Sarah was there and grandma had taken Ben for a walk. Grandma only stayed for a bit before having to go but auntie Sarah stayed on and was a godsend entertaining Rachel. Becci popped in after her last day at work and had lovely cuddles with both my children and then it was time for jacks second bath. He screamed through this one even more than the last one and although Rachel was helping me for a bit I think she got a bit freaked out by his crying. Luckily sarah was still there to help. Not sure we were quite as well organised as we should have been.

After his bath Jack had a feed while we waited for sarahs friend Becky to come and pick her up. Rachel and Sarah played tea parties which was very sweet to watch. Becky arrived and Jack decided to poo in her arms as well. I think this is becoming a bit of a habit when he meets new people!!
They then left and Jack and I took rachel up for her bath. When I finally got her off the loo (!!) and into the bath it went very well. Came back down, got rachel into p j's, fed Jack and then took her up to bed. Jack and I read her a couple of stories and soon enough she was fast asleep.
And now Jack and I are sitting in the lounge having our evening feeding sessions before bedtime. Good times. Nice and peaceful so far.
