Jack seems to be recovering finally from the sickness bug. Although all Friday and Saturday all he wanted to eat was cheese, more cheese and the occasional yoghurt.
So Saturday we let J have a lie-in of sorts. I eventually put the stair-gate up to stop the kids from annoying him. At 10 he was forced to get up by Rachel and after changing Jacks 4th dirty nappy in a row he managed to sit down and have a cup of tea and bowl of granola - part of his current health drive. We had some lunch and then J took Rachel out while Jack and I had a snooze.
J took Rachel to the Wacky Warehouse where she met Ruby (one of her friends from school) and had fun playing nicely with her.
I eventually got dragged out of bed at 4 as I had to get ready to go to work by 5!
Both kids were whiney so it was in all honesty a relief to be going to work especially as I knew it was going to be a pretty straightforward shift.
After having Jack I went back to work at the end of November. I managed to stretch my maternity to 10 months with holiday time and best of all managed to miss the freshers period although I did do a few "keeping-in-touch" days during this time. I have to be honest and say that I would rather have not gone back to work but unfortunately we still have bills to pay and 2 kids to feed - well only one really as Rachel doesn't eat.
On Saturday night whilst I was out J stuck to his guns and put Rachel to bed, read her stories and then went back downstairs, leaving her door open and the landing light on. Miracle of miracles it worked and she settled herself down and went to sleep whilst he was free to watch tv and have some dinner.
She did come down a while later as she needed the loo, but after J took her she went straight back to sleep in her bed. And again later, as he was heading up to bed, she woke again but J told her he had to get juice before coming to bed so she went back to sleep waiting for him to come back. Of course he didn't go for juice but went straight to bed and she didn't come up until very late/ early Sunday morning. I had to wake J on the other hand when I got home at half 1, as he had locked me out and left his keys in the door!
Sunday, I slept in until 9, then lay in bed trying to force myself to wake up before eventually getting up for a shower. The peace was soon shattered when everyone descended (or rather ascended) on to me in the loft. We had a quick tidy up and got everyone ready and then headed to the in-laws for lunch.
The kids snacked on stuff rather than eating a plateful of lunch but I guess, at least they ate something. Lunch was lovely then we stayed and played for a bit until we had to come home for J to watch the football. There was the standard battle over dinner but finally by 6 both kids were fed and calmed down.
